Swim Bladder Problem

I have a Pacific Blue Tang that apears to have no use of her swim bladder. When she swims, she has to fight to mantain her position in the water column. She never rests or coasts while swimming. Anytime she is not swimming she is lying on something, which is most of the time. Is there anything I can do to help her situation? I pulled her out of the tank she was in when she started having the problem. The water she is in now is a vast improvement. Any suggestions would help.

Thanks
Jason

The tank has been up and running for 2 years. My NH3 is 0 NO2 is 0 and NO3 is 0(redsea test kit). The fish was rescued from a previous tank in which the swim bladder problem started. I don't know the parameters of the previous tank.

I suppose I don't know for sure that it is a swim bladder problem. What I can say for sure is that the fish cannot achieve neutral buoyancy and is constantly negatively buoyant. Swim bladder was assumption.

Swim bladder problems are usually the result of an internal infection .. and considered difficult to treat. Many would recommend Qt combined with use of strong antibiotics in both the water column as well as the food. Some of the stronger antibiotics would include kanamycn sulfate and nitrofurazone.

I believe that seachem sell a product called kanaplex which is kanamycn. They also sell a product called Focus which will help bind antibiotics to the food.

Here's a link that discusses internal bacterial infections.

Hope this helps.
