Okay couple other updates.
First I meant to say Fiji Purple bulbs, not Fiji Pink. LoL
Starting to see alot of pink corraline algae taking hold on the base rock. I imagine I'll have tons of pink corraline in a matter of weeks. Getting some green hair algae taking hold here and there. Nothing to major atm. Phospates are at 0.
I dropped 30 Turbo snails, 30 Nassarus, 10 Cerith snails and 10 Scarlet Reef Hermits in the tank today. Everything seems alive except about half the Turbo snails. If they haven't moved by tomorrow then I'll assume DOA and call LiveAquaria. Even with a heat pack in the shipping container their water and bags were pretty darn cold.
I'll probably look at getting 3 or 4 Emerald crabs soon, they seem to like hair algae more than the hermits. I think I need to get more snails too. Putting my CUC in the tank made me remember how big a 300 gallon tank actually is, lol. I could see myself adding another 50 or 60 snails, and 40 or 50 hermits, plus the 4 Emerald Crabs. Also leaning towards a Cucumber, had good results with the 1 I had in a prior tank.
Fish and Corals.
Currently have a Yellow Watchman Goby, love that guy/gal. He found him a nice area under a rock and made his home. Eating very good for several weeks now. Love the permanent frown. Definetly my pride and joy. Considering adding another one, perhaps he will take up home on the opposite side.
Also have a pair of juvenile Ocellaris Clowns and a pair of juvenile Skunk Clowns. I know I know, more than 1 pair can go bad. I figured I would give it a try given all the room I have and the fact that both pairs are very young. So far they appear to have a peace treaty in place. You would think with all that space and rock to hide in they would spread out, however for some reason both pairs chose the same area to call home. Go figure.
Anyway when the lights go out the Ocellaris stay near the sand bed and the Skunks go high towards the top of the tank, but both pairs stay close to the same overflow. In the daytime the Skunks still stay close to the overflow but the Ocellaris roam about the tank. But every night they all come back to the same corner overflow.
So far no signs of bites on bodies or nipped fins. I am prepared to take the Skunks back if the peace treaty falls through. At some point Im hoping one of the pairs will decide to make a home on the opposite side of the tank.
Thats it for fish atm, didn't want to overstock too fast. Might pickup a Yellow Tang next week and I'm contemplating a group of Chromis at some point. Also would like a Blue Tang at some point.
As for corals I have 3 ATM, nice baby Leather with green tipped tentacles, a nice little Hammer Coral, and one other small coral who's name escapes me. Frogspawn I think. Corals are doing good, have had them for a little over a week. I'll be adding some more LPS soon. Not adding any SPS right now, figured I better give my tank a few more months to mature.
I'll try to get some pics.
So, so far so good. Did I mention OMG SOOOO MANY PODS EVERYWHERE.
