SWSW sales?

hey guys, maybe that's the reason they changed onwer ship because they was under pricing there items and lost money, so the new owner will have to up there prices to stay competative, i love oasis, customer service is great i never had a problem, and i will continue to support my local stores

sws was not losing money. i know for a fact. and if you want to see that the prices down here are crazy, look at aquatouch, one of the more pricey in phoenix and it was still the same as sws before the store changing hands, aquarium arts i always feel like im a thief because its soo cheap. i save more money doing the phoenix drive, my money saved at least pays for fuel and lunch and i get a bigger selection. Oasis is the used car dealer of lfs. i always feel like im being hustled and the prices are outragous and do not trust anything said in that shop ever. but i guess if you only sell one coral a month and it pays the rent, its his way. i will never go back to oasis. Im down for a frag swap, id offer my place as well to host. I hope a new shop opens up to fill the void.

On this Guy must be an employee of oasis or just got in to the hobby. ......... last night! and rob was not starving that's 4 sure when he owned it. I shopped at swsw 4 1 reason. .... Mike he took care of me no matter what it has lil to do with price Its service 100 % like Carlos said I used to just go and just hang out. That's how they got sells I spent close to 3 grand in two months there just in live stock

i don't work for oasis Killafornia, i'm a customer and a hobbist just like yourself, and i'm not new, just new to making post, but you guys have your opinon and i have mines and i will continue to support ossis, and Carlos we meet once before at your work not sure if you remember and we also exchanged dialogue a few times for what it's worth, but if this is the place for you guys to vent then vent on.

SW losing money on the past pricing? Doubtful. But even if it was careless pricing (which I doubt), that place was packed (like I said before) so giving a deal here_n_there wont matter if you have the volume they once did. BTW You'd be in shock if you were to see cost on some stuff. I'm not saying other factors don't contribute to the retail price, like feeding, medicating, housing, and quarantine in some cases; BUT pricing shouldn't vary that significant. It's good to hear that you are a loyal customer, and that you will continue to support our LFS no matter the circumstances. Me personally I shop for knowledge, honesty, personality, and then I see what product/livestock they have. I don't want to start an Oasis bashing but the knowledge is ok, personality is more like an investigation "œwhere do you shop?" "œHe uses copper." "œMine is better." "They don't know what they're doing." And I hope he is not honest about some stuff because that would take away some of his knowledge IMO. Now for livestock, as I said it looks good, it's presented well, and coloration is up there. But after being interrogated that $30.00 frag isn't that tempting.

Honestly, it's not a competition. I shop where I like. Think of it like coffee shop, who cares if it's a 7dollar latte, it's quite, people smile, and they know what they're selling. I mean my gosh, there is like 47 different cup's of whatever on the menu, wouldn't YOU like a recommendation? Same with coral, there is a ton of different one's, and those all have different requirements, ask about the system then make a recommendation.

You use T5's?

OK, Ok all our stores suck. This is not new news. They have always sucked, we just never noticed cause we didn't have anything to compare them to except Majestic ha ha ha. Anyone who has seen a Salt water shop anywhere else knows how much better these stores could be. Just think though, If someone was to open a great shop those other stores would be out of business real quick.

Our only store? Oasis is right down the street.

Okay, I should have clarified. Our only store that I can visit during regular business hours and have it be open. Every time I have tried to go to Oasis (except once about 5 years ago, and during that visit, Hector really turned me off by trying to sell me every expensive piece of equipment and gadget in the store, of course all of which I absolutely had to have or else ZOMG EVERYTHING IN THE TANK WILL DIE!!), it's closed up with no sign saying when it will be open again, or anything. And I'm not trying to visit Sunday night at 11 pm. I'm talking Monday through Saturday afternoons and evenings.

So yeah, I feel pretty confident in saying that SWA is our only store. If I can't get in the place, then I can't shop there.

I'd be down for a frag swap.

Wow, this is a disappointing thread to read. I haven't been down to SW since the big post-Super Bowl sale (made out like a bandit with a bunch of frags). I knew Rob had sold the store, but I hadn't been down there since.

I was thinking about heading down there this week, but now I'm not sure it's worth the drive.

Seems like I'm in the same boat as many of you guys. Mike was always great to deal with. Knowledgeable, always took the time to chat, and never hesitated to point me in the direction of a sweet deal, or an unusual piece. That's why I shopped there. Good selection, great customer service, and fair prices. I'm all for supporting the local guys, but only within reason. I'm not going to buy a frag at 3x the price just to support the LFS.

oasis..hahahaha

oasis..hahahaha

I havent noticed the increase in prices at SWS. Ill agree it doesnt seem like the new owners know too much. But imo its pretty much the only SW store here... Oasis well, cmon :hmm4: haha

change of subject here lol has anyone visited the new reef culture in PHX?! zomgosh sooo nice! helpful people great prices! :celeb1: I LOVE THAT STORE haha

But i will still continue to shop at SWS....
sometimes
:o

I have been to SWA twice and Dan seems to be handling the store fairly well. The SPS frags are looking good and for the $20 bucks per frag I spent I would say they are worth it. There is allot less aiptasia in the tanks and they are looking clean the last couple of weeks.

Ordered H. Melanurus from Dan and paid a fair price for it and it is looking good in the tank. Plus the frozen food isn't too badly priced fr this town. Plus he will be stocking Rod's foods soon which I have been wanting to try. So far I like the new SWA.

The old SWA stocked Rod's Food too. So that's not new. I always bought it from Rob. As for other brands of frozen food, I admit I buy it from Petco or Petsmart. They carry the same stuff, and at a much lower price. Most of the time, I make my own. Some fresh seafood from the grocery store, put in the blender with some garlic, Selcon and veggies... Then freeze it using the mini ice cube trays. My fish and corals love it and it is soooo much cheaper to make your own frozen food than it is to buy it pre-made.

I guess the Rod's food was out when I went in there who knew...I have to get off my lazy but and go get some seafood and try to make my own. hmmm raw fish in a blender...bet it smells good.

uhem SWA haha but Dan is a real nice guy. I will say its a lot easier to get help now. And everyone seems a lot friendlier. Now i actually get asked if i need help! lol One thing i love is the fact they always have torches/frogspawn/ etc! well now that i think of it, a frag of hammer i saw a month or so ago that was $15/head..was i think 25-30...last time i was there this past week.... unless it was just on the wrong side of the tank?

Ive tried homemade food, but i bought the "sea food combo mix" and never again..they just didnt like it. I need to get my butt back to the store and just buy everything fresh and separate..no more frozen combo nonsense for my fishes.

wow didnt know it took 9 minutes to type that last post.. but the fish in the blender actually not so bad lemme tell ya i was thinking to myself forget my fish lemme throw in some lemon and eat this seafood myself!

Well I'm vegetarian, so I admit it thoroughly grosses me out to make homemade fish food. I have two blenders, actually. One for me, and one for the fish. I find it that disgusting. I use the frozen bags of scallops, frozen shrimp, and jars of oysters. Then fresh clams and mussels if I can find them.
