Sympodium melt away

I saw this really cool coral in a friends tank and went out and bought one. I dipped it on revive for a few minutes and placed it in med/high flow, med - low light. It opened right up and looked great for a couple days. The. It closed and never opened again . I thought maybe the flow was to much so I moved it to low flow and 2 days later it literally melted on me. This kinda thing happens a lot to me with zoos no a days. Only seems like on my current system. Can't explain it. Maybe it was the flow.

its normal.. sympodium is like pumping xenia.. one person can keep it the other not... i had sympodium many times and everytime it was melting away... its not easy to keep...

Really.....I wonder what it is that causes it to melt away? I am glad I am not alone. My nitrates might be to low!
I am bewildered by this. In previous tanks xenia has been pretty easy for me. I hate when I don't know...lol

I have rarther higher nitrates because i have only a soft colored coral tank .. so i don't think it has anything to do with nitrates... In lot of tanks will xenia doing fine and suddenly its gone.. so thats the way sympodium is doing too.The raison i dont know
