Synthetic salt

ive been hearing a lot about blending salt mixes. I use to only use Coralife salt mix with fine results. Since ive been out of the hobby for a few years, i'd like to know if there is any reason to change what i have always done, is the mixing of salt mixes a new thing? What salt mix do you use?

I've read of people blending different salt mixes but man that sounds like a pita....In a hobby thats already complicated to begin with I'd just stick with a salt mix that has a proven track record of success and run with it.
