synthetic wood for a stand

Has anyone built a stand using the composite boards they sell for decks? They are waterproof, uniform in dimension and straight. They are more expensive than wood but without the drawbacks. It seems it is harded and harder to find lumber that is properly dried and straight.

Plastic or synthetic? .. The synthetic is not strong enough from what ive experinced ( used pieces to hold up a outboard motor , motor was on the garage floor in the morning )

Plastic comes in lengths that we are not able to use ( 36 48 72 etc ) as with most cabinets you need 48 1/2 etc .

Maybe they do make "to cut" pieces but I havent seen any , and all the pieces i have seen have pre drilled holes in it.

well i just know on our deck we were thinking of redoing it in that stuff.. but they said we would have to get extra cross members since it flexes so much.. so if the have to add extra support to hold a 200 lb person i would think youd need alot to hold up a heavy reef tank..

maybe just build a simple frame out of 2x4's or 2x2's and then cover it in the composite..
