T-5 fixture question

I once put a PC light on top/across of a 75 gal AGA tank. The fan crapped out and the heat of the light melted the center brace.

Do T-5 fixtures need fans? I ask because many are sold without. But I don't want to melt another center brace.

some have them and some dont. they dont get to hot

It sort of depends. They do not run that hot and they do not need fans for cooling, however, having fans to cool them will improve their PAR performance

And I know only one quality fixture that does not use a fan, Tek. I would stay away from the cheap fixtures

I was going to go cheap as this is for a large fuge. So I should be ok if I get a Coralife 2x28, that doesn't have a fan? Thanks....
