I'm looking to upgrade my my pc to a retro fit t-5 system. I don't know very much about them and any info on them would be great. IE brands and prices. My budget is a little tight right now so I'm looking to spend about $300 total. Is these even possible?

read my post in this thread....same size tank LxW but your 90 is deeper

http://www.reefcentral.com/forums/showthread.php?s=&threadid=1689069

that should give ya basics & links to check out.

$300 i think could get you some no-name ebay stuff....but you get what ya pay for & would probably be unhappy w/ it.

if you aren't wanting to do light-demanding sps in your tank, i think option 1 i listed in my post would be a good setup for a 90...gonna have to save a bit more, but that price does include the bulbs which is $120+ if they were bought seperately

that i'll toss out to somebody w/ more long-term experience w/ them

my above post was me just re-gurgitating the info i have absorbed over the last year or so or reading & researching LOL

not sure the dimensions of your tank but if you were going to do

4 - T5s 48iners, heres the run down cost

Top of the line Ice cap 660 ballast - brand new $150
Top of the line lamps ($20 a piece) Total - $80
Top of the line individual reflectors ($20 a piece) Total $80
Decent endcaps $40

total $350

That would be an awesome overdrive setup and keep almost anything in your tank. cant get much better than that if your using t5's

Also if you wanted to cut the cost down alot you could go for a workhorse ballast instead of the icecap. for maybe $40 instead of $150 and drive the lamps at 54watts a piece instead of 80 watts

the link james posted for the t5 retro kit for 359 would probaly be the way to go, has everything included, the endcaps in there are a little better than the ones i found for 40 that i used. also reek geek is the site to get the bulbs from anyways might as well order the whole kit and make easy work of it
