T Derasa question

I'm thining about purchasing a 4-5 in. derasa clam. i have 384 watts of pc on a 40 gallon reef. the only concern i have is the size it will eventually reach. i was wondering how fast they grow.

Irrespective of how fast they grow, what will you do with it when it gets bigger?

IME its hard to tell exactlly how fast a particular clam will grow, but a derasa will generally grow fairly quickly as far as clams go.

i have 384 watts of pc on a 40 gallon reef.

A Tridacna derasa will do fine under that lighting but as mentioned above, they do grow fairly fast so you might consider getting one that is small so you will have more time to enjoy it before it get too large.

We keep our Derasa under 260 watt PCs in a 55 gallon. We bought it in early September. Since then it has grown about 1/2".
