What is the deal with these? as compared to T5'sHO? I know there yesterdays news but I can get a great deal on a corallife ballast with 4 T12VHO"s any help would be appreciated!!! Thanks!!!

basically the T5 bulbs are considerably smaller and produce a much more intense light than the VHO's do

Not really because you have to account for reflectors, ballasts, bulb types, and personal preference. The T5's are the hot new thing, but you have to set them up correctly (proper reflectors), and VHO is still the top dog for actinic.

IMO there is nothing wrong with VHO, and there are plenty of tanks out there doing very well with them so if you can get a good deal I would go for it.
