I am having a hard time deciding between the 2, I want to get more into photograpy and will mostly be using the camera for "business" purpouses. pics of corals and reptiles. but I do enjoy photography,(especially macro)

Business? Just get the T1i.

Actually, make sure you hold one then compare to a full size body (40D, 50D, 7D, etc...) The Rebel bodies are too small for my big hands, and lack a 2nd control wheel. If you are set on an XSi or T1i I can't think of any reason besides cost to get the XSi.

I guess it a good thing I have small hands  what controls do the rebel bodies lack?

The 40D, 50D, 7D bodies and up... they all have 2 wheels for controlling your settings. The Rebel series like the Xsi or the T1i all just have one wheel. So you have to set a setting, push a button, then twist again to set the next setting.

With my 50D, I can twist two different wheels at once, which is very easy to pick up, and basically adjust to new situations just that much faster.

For sure go with the T1i over the XSi. I don't think there is much of a price difference and for the little difference it's worth every penny. The video is awesome but has some issues. I personally never had a problem with there only being one control wheel but I don't move that quickly ;)
