T5 Growth Pics

Would not using the ge 6500's take the spectrum too far out of the proper range for my clam. I have a 6 bulb over my 65 and am using just one 6500 in the middle.

Here's some pics from my Combo set up. 8 54W T5s on IceCap 660s and 2 250W DE 14K Phoenix on PFO hqi. MHs are only on 4 hrs a day. One set of 4 T5s are on for 7 hrs the other 4 are on for 12hrs.
Tank is 240 Gal, 60x38x25h. The lights are 8" off the water.
Clams and sps frags on the bottom are growing well. The corals higher up might be getting too much light.
The tank looks brighter to the eye than it does in these pics.

Grim didn't you say that with the icecap ballast that the bulbs could last longer as the balast compensates for the lost light.

Also how much more power are you using when using the icap ballast percentage wise.

and finally what percentage increase do you get of par when using the icecap ballast

Bad news, I lost all my stonies in a power outage this weekend. 100% acropora loss, 100% fish loss.
It hurts to see the pictures I posted to start this thread out just weeks ago.

I came home to a dark tank, no power at all. The GFI circuit tripped and because we were only going away for a couple of days, I didn't hook up any pumps, lights to another circuit. This is what I saw when I got the lights on.

I did a 20 and then 15 gallon water change and waited till this morning to see if anything made it. Nothing did.

This was the innitial clean up this morning, I thought a couple more had a chance but no dice.

I lost my Maxima clam but both the Croceas made it. Torch and zoo's seem fine but my Monti cap is now starting to look faded. Surprisingly my bubble tip anemone made it through.
Today I did a 40 gallon change and the tank is looking better. Doesn't look like it did though.

T5 ballast 232 watts 135 PAR

Ice Cap 305 watts 183 PAR

The ice cap wont make the lamps last longer, it just doesn't seem to kill them early either.

School, I've been following your thread since your first post. I'm so sorry to hear about your loss. At least you know you've got the potential to recreate your masterpiece. No consolation I know, but don't lose hope.

Sorry about your loss
Did you find out how your GFI tripped? was it overload or water got into the socket?
Dont give up!!!!

I have no idea how it tripped but I'm having a hard time getting it to stay on now without switching off. I've had to sepparate the tank into two outlets now to keep things running.
If anyone has any ideas, I'm open to hear them.

School, sorry to hear about that man...Those stories make me afraid to install the GFCI in the first place :(

What is your lighting schedule? I was hoping to match yours because it certainly seems to work :P. Thx!

There is a reason it trips. Until you are exactly sure what that reason is, you shouldn't sleep sound.
Some times it is a cruddy ballast that you want to run till it burns out any how... but some times it is salt in the plug, which can heat up and burn the plastic...where you could loose your whole house. Big SW tanks come with some danger, GFCI are one protection from some of the dangers. In short, a larger disaster might have been avoided here recently.

Of course, I am sorry for your losses and for the corals!

I'm not sure what tripped it but I do have a good idea. I'm trying to get with the manufacturer right now.
Horace, I think the light schedule is on page 4 or 5.
