T5 Growth Pics

Sorry to hear about your loss,...
How is your 75 comming along? Things filling back in yet?

Thanks,
Whiskey

Thanks for asking Whiskey. Things are coming around and I'm finaly seeing some good growth. I still haven't seen the polyp extension I used to have but I think all this takes time.
I was lucky to be able to frag tiny tips off of some of my acros that made it through the crash. I had a 12 gallon nano cube going at the same time and was lucky. Some of the frags didn't make it but I think I saved about 50%. Saved meaning getting a 1/4" or at the most 1/2" frag.
It took forever for the acros to settle down and start growing again, probably a couple of months ago I noticed any real growth, since then they have taken off! The digitata ended up being alot tougher and rebounded almost immediately. The digitata in the pic below was just a 1" frag Jan 2, a day after the crash.

Porites: Didn't seem to be affected by the crash, just a little burning on the tips that went away almost immediately

Birdsnest that a buddy gave to me after the crash. Looks different than others I've seen but my first.

I saved a bit of this green slimer, mounted it horizontaly and it's just now started to take off.

Those SPS are coming alone nicely. Great color and growth like always. I finally got my lights setup so in a couple months(when tank is mature enough) ill see if I can get some great color and growth like you :) .

Definitely looks like things are looking better! Your green slimer looks kind of similar to mine. It has a more yellow/green color than a deep green. Im curious if this is because of the T5s or the water quality. In general I have problems with my greens. They look pretty yellow/green for the most part.

mine has always been a yellow/green color and after the crash, much yellower. It's now starting to get a little more green. I don't think it's the water quality but it could be the T5's.
I'm going to cut a little off and put it under my halides to see if I get a different color.

Just curious, but what bulb combo are you planning on using once the UV SA bulbs come out? I was going to try:

SA
AB
B+
GE
B+
SA

My current tank is:

B+
AB
B+
GE
B+
AB

The tank is very white when all the bulbs are on. Im thinking I would like a tad more blue look, which I think the first combo will give me.

I'm not sure, I haven't really researched them yet. Are the SA the super actinic? I would probably only use one of them in the front mixed with the AB and B+.
When are they scheduled to be out?

hopefully this week they are being shipped.

but we shall see.

its great to see that your tank is rebounding newschool:)

Thats what I did. I have a new set of bulbs on order. My plan is

Front

SA
AB
B+
AB
AB
B+

Rear.

I just checked out reefgeek.com and it looks like UV is also coming out with a 10K and a 12K bulb. Anyone heard anything about these?

If they are like the VHO's they produce they look pinkish in color but I hope it looks better in T5's. For sure I am trying the SA

I really think Im going to run 2 SA, 2 B+, 2AB this time around. I really think my T5s are a bit to bright.....I have several corals that are on the edge of bleaching out compeltely. My purple rim green cap is completely white except for the bright purple rim. It also is hardly growing... i really think its just getting far too much light.

You have 6x 54W overdriven or normally driven over the 75G?

They are normally driven with Icecap reflectors and Triad ballasts

I just talked to ReefGeek and he indicated that the bulbs likely will be shipping out to us on Monday. So hopefully by Fri of next week we will all have them in our paws :P. I cant wait to see what the tank looks like under some different actinic. Up until now I have just run B+ and as a result my greens dont pop quite like they would under the actinic.

Yes, the 10K is the Aquasun, and the 12K is their Actinic White, just like their T12 bulbs.
