I ask this because I am going to convert...Is your tank covered or do you have waterproof endcaps. If covered then with what and does it increase your tanks temp?

duec I'd stick with the same combo that you have going now. I use only the blueplus and aquablue and I think my color is probably about 14K.

mrbncal, the tank is not covered and I'm not sured if the endcaps are waterproof. It's a Tek light though, so I guess it's something you can research. I have my lights about 4" above the water and it does heat the water up about 3 degrees.

If you get the Tek retro from reefgeek they should have the waterproof endcaps....they have a piece of foam that tightens up agains the bulb when the endcap is screwed on...
and I can atest to them working...I've droped both ends under water at different points when putting the lights back on the tank..

Good to see other T5'ers having excellent results. Seems like anytime I tell someone I have T5's, they act like I can't have anything except SPS in the tank. This is proof that t5's can do what MH's can do... :)

OK, I am officially on the t5 bandwagon!!! I recieved my aquatinics fixture today, and it kikcs some major butt. It has 5 indifidual parabolic reflectors, and puts out soooooo much more light than the 4x96W pc's it replaced.

I can't wait to see the growth.

I would also HIGHLY recommend the aquatinics fixture. At $290 for a 5 X 54w fixture with individual highly polished parabolic reflectors, you really can't go wrong.

Newschool you got a full tank shot? Just wondering. I have the same tank, same light, same return pump... Just wondering how you aquascaped. You run 3 aquas and 3 blue + right? I thinkim gonna swap my Ge for a anothe aqua or blue +. Later Ryan

Brian, can you post some pics of the lighting on your tank and the lights itself? i have a 72 bow also but the 6 bulb tek will not fit and i think the 4 bulb is too weak.

do you guys think the 4 bulb setup is too weak for a 72 bow?

thanks

ryannat1, mrbncal posted a pic of my tank on this page. For some reason, the first pic I had was erased? Photobucket problems I think.

deansreef, the two blue + bulbs go on at 9:30am and off at 9:30pm, the 4 middle ones go on at 10:30am and off at 9:30pm.

i think 4x54 would be more than adequate on a 72g esp with good reflectors.

my 3x39 is nuts on a 35g, i have to keep my lps down low, or it isnt happy, but the sps like it on the top

As far as monti cap growth goes I've heard and experienced that you can get really good scolling growth by mounting frags vertical instead of flat.

Just wanted to get your guys thoughts on a bulb combo...I've got a 29gal that I'm currently running 2x24w t-5 (aqua blue plus bulbs) and a 55w PC (03 actinic). I plan on replacing the PC with another 4x24W t-5 retro from reefgeek. With six bulbs I only plan on haveing 5 over the tank and 1 over my HOB refugium. So what bulb combo would you guys recomend for 5 bulbs...I would like to keep the tank looking like it's in the 14K range..

i think the extra 4 bulbs would be extreme overkill

i have 3x39 on my 35 g and its mega bright

I just changed over my crappy T5 setup from Aquatraders to all Icecap reflectors and the Triad ballasts. So I now have 6x54w over my 75. Im curious how my leathers/LPS are going to do...its alot of light.

Running: Front

Blue+
Aquablue
Blue+
GE
Blue+
Aquablue

I wouldn't be surprised to see them shrink up. You may want to lower them if you can, like you said, that's alot of light!

Would you think I have enough light for pretty much any clam on the sandbed??

Hi NewSchool04, when you say keep the croceas on the rocks, do you mean halfway up the rock structure or can you keep him on a rock on the sand bed ?

Thx
