t5 hood

awestruck

New member
I need a 36" t5 set up that only has 1 daylight bulb and 1 actinic bulb. Anyone know where I can purchase these? TIA

Thank you BurntOutReefer :) Do you know if this light is any good or is it a waste of a few bucks. I already have 2 pc hoods on my 58g. so I don't want to spend a fortune replacing lighting.

Thank you--what combination of bulbs would be good? And, with the t5 you're suggesting, in addition to my 2 pc hoods that are 10,000k, 96 watts, would any sps be able to thrive or is my lighting still not strong enough? TIA :)

you might want to look into icecap relectors and ballasts or get a tek retro. they will give you alot more par. check them out at reefgeek.com

That is a good idea bigfruits, but I am absolutely clueless about how to put this together. Is it difficult?

the title of your thread says hood. do you have a wooden hood already? if you do you just mount the reflectors connect teh ballast and screw the lights in. the tek ready fit kits are already wired and ready to go you just need to screw them to the hood.

are you looking for a fixture or for something to add to your existing hood?

Do what i did..save your money...then "invest" it into a aquatinics t-5 fixture. my tank looks a whole lot better after i switched from pc to t-5

yeah I wouldnt waste money on an inferior T5 set up...otherwise just keep your stock flourescents

I have an orbit pc but I want to sell the tank and start over right w/ an aquactinics or tek set up T5

if you dont already have a hood and you are looking for a fixture i agree with the two posts above. ATI's sunpower is coming out soon, and it will be around the same price as the tek fixture. check out this thread below. alot of good info on it and the grim reefer will answer any questions you have. he is getting a powersun soon and will test it out. you might want to wait until he gives his review before you buy an aquactinics or tek unless you are in a hurry.

this is probably the best place for tek fixtures and they will carry the sunpower soon
