T5 Powered 55 Gallon SPS Heavy Tank Build

I have tried doing that. And as I have previously said I am not 100% convinced that the lighting did infact cause the brown out. So it may be a little ealy for changing the bulbs out.

But that being said if I can have a higher PAR values and a better more even color spectra by changing them I only see that as a good thing I guess. From what I under stand one of the nice things about doing a T5 system is the ease of swapping bulbs in and out until you find what you want.

I know at the begining of this thread I strongly defended the bulbs that came included with the lighting system. And I am still not going to say they are bad bulbs since I have not seen measured PAR values taken for them. To assume that they are not good bulbs just because them come stock with a hood is a little silly though.

So I will mix it up and see what it is like.

Well the new bulbs finally made it here from reefgeek. And I must say that at first glace I am very happy that I bought them. The difference is very great. The blue+ really does a nice job of cutting through the "white" day light when all bulbs are on. Plus the lighting is just a lot stronger. I am sorry that I doubted all those who told me that I was going to need to switch out the stock bulbs that came with the fixture. I will try and just some updated pictures up tomorrow.

Sandstorm sandstorm who said sandstorm........ Yup you were right. And this is the second one I have had. What pain in the bum.... Well I think today it the day that I may try to procure some mag mounts. What fun.

Tank is looking good!!

I would highly recommend getting the Sureflow magnets for you modded MJ's, thos suction cups WILL fail in time and cause a huge mess.

Well another sandstorm.... when I got home from work. Once those suction cups start to fail they are done I guess.

I found a suregrip mag mount at a LFS, and attached it to the pump. Very secure. A shame that they cost so much. but oh well the pumphead won't fall again in this life time. I will post some new picture maybe tomorrow when all the sand finally settles down.

how is the aquatic life fixture working out for you any updates i have the same system almost ...i want clams but i'm worried they wont make it hows yours doing

Wow this thread came back from the dead. The giga is still alive and kickin' (and always growing). I lost my Crocea a while back but I don't think it was due to the lighting. I was out of town for a week when It happened and had someone watching my tank, so I don't quite know what the cause was. I due have a new baby one which is probably only about 2" long and it seems to be doing fine.

I am also very interested in an update with your Aquatic Life fixture with higher quality bulbs. Would also love to see some photos too. Thanks!

Dang nice setup!! I'm sure you have that awesome feeling of not only a great tank setup, but the great sense of accomplishment from plumbing all yourself.

More pics. :)

Dang, I missed your thread somehow. I would have recommended a 6 bulb fixture instead of a 4 bulb fixture, which is what I am running on my 55 (Nova Extreme PRO). I am running all ATI bulbs love them, provide great growth. My tank is a mixed reef but the sps’s I have in there Jam. Looking good so far will be tagging along.
