t5 question

its all very confusing to me but would a 72 inch aquatinics 14x39 t5 lighting system be enough on a standard 125 to grow sps?

i think it would work for most sps, how long are the bulbs? if there are 7 on each side that would give you 273 w, per side, i have 250 w metal halides per side and i can grow anything..

does each bulb have individual reflectors?

The aquatinics fixtures have individual reflectors. They are also unique in that some of their bulbs are mounted in an arch instead of straight horizontal line. This can give a better light spread over wider tanks.

With that fixture you can grow SPS no problem.

i currently run 8 x 39 on my 4 foot 120 till I change bulbs this year when I will go 4 foot but I have no frowth issues with sps at all

i think its a little low. But if you were to overdrive the bulbs, i think that would be a lot better. Im not sure if you can overdrive 72 inch bulbs or not.... you might want to look into that.

Keep everything but really high-light corals on or near the bottom. If you're going with something uber high-light, still "screen" it for a week or so.

I burned my first Oregon Blue tort to bits 1/2 the way down with my T-5's.

You'll have plenty of light, even if you venture towards the blue side of the spectrum.

You need bulb/color suggestions? Have a Kelvin rating-ish in mind? I've been with T-5's since 2005ish. Would never go back to MH.

PS: You'll love dealing with Aquatinics; great company for customer service, to boot...
