t5 question

I had the 2x250 plus T-5 model and it fried all the SPS in my 40 breeder..
IMO, 250 watts for a 15" deep tank is more light than any light loving acro species will need....I swapped out the Aquamedic for a Tek 6x39 T-5 fixture and now the colors are way better, growth is better, and PE is better.

dont get it, it does not have individual parabolic reflectors.
if your going t5 with SPS thn thats cool, and you cn be sucesfull,
but you need and i meen NEED to get individual parabolic reflectors.
if can increase the reflectivity and intensity by about 50 percent.
with out the individual reflectors yout light will basiclly look just like a Normal output fllorecent light setup.
get the Tek Light, if your goin t-5

I echo what Joe said but I will expound further. I would recommend only indivudual reflector units that have one of the following reflectors (some individual ones suck too), Icecap, Computer designed from Aqualux, and the Tek reflectors. Aparently Aquatinics makes decent ones too but I would probably rate them last behind the others. Trust me reflectors makes a HUGE HUGE difference. I used to run crappy ones and I had SPS that was pure brown for months. As soon as I upgraded the reflectors all of the sudden they started turning all sorts of colors that I didnt even know they had. I was seriously about to pitch some of them thinking they woudl always look like that. Thank God I didnt. They are gorgous purples/oranges now.
thanx for the advice i will get the teklight 4 bulb for my 55. i really am gratefull for the responses i get because i cant search here because i always get a server full note or what ever the page says. ok what about bulbs i want to get 3 giesemann 11k aquablue plus bulbs and 1 pure actinic bulb. would this be good choice. i only plan to keep 1 monti cap, 1 birdsnest and maybe 1 acropora. i only want 3 so they can get as big as they want in my tank. and if i want more i can just frag them.

Highly Recomend (02) Aquablue + (11k) and (02) Blue +.... 2:2 ratio looks very good in my 90...
I am afraid 3 11k would appear very white and washed out..
