Tahitian Moon Black Sand

Anyone use it. It is really fine, getting ready to put some in my tank. Did you rinse it? It is so fine, I am not sure what the benefit would be.

I used it and liked it a lot. It won't PH buffer for you though. I did not rinse it.

The benefit for me was that it is black.

Aragonite does not buffer ph either unless the ph goes low enough to dissolve the aragonite.

I will have aragonite in my rdsb though, anyhow.

The pH Has to be quite low for it to start the buffer
I believe i read some were that it starts at about A pH of 6.

Basically if your tanks ph drops low enough for the aragonite to buffer the ph, everything will already be dead.

Definetely rinse that stuff. I had black "dust" throughout my water column when I used it. It says "pre-rinsed" on the bag, don't trust it lol.

If you can see all the black crap on the glass on the return pump, that's the stuff that gets everywhere. It got all over my plumbing and it's really annoying to look at lol.

I had the sump filled to the top and when I brought the water level back to where it belonged, all the black dust got all over everything.

I rinsed mine like crazy and still had black water for about a day.
