tail rot

Hello~
I have a mated pair of cative bred seahorses. My little female has the telltale signs of tail rot. I know that this is a bacterial infection and can spread to my male seahorse. I was thinking of using melifix and pimafix bacterial medication as a treatment today. Has anyone had any success with any of these products as bacterial remedies? I do not want to loose her. She started to show these signs yesterday but, I only just diagnosed her. She is not eating. There are no other fish in the tank but, there are various corals and maco algae. Help!
Any suggestion will be great. Thanks,
Sherry S.

I would move her to a 10g hospital tank immediatley, especially since there is another horse in the tank.

You need to drop the temperature on the hospital down to around 69F. The lower temp will greatly slow the spread of the baceria.

The best combo's of meds for vibrio related illnesses is going to be triple sulfa and neomycin. There is a site Aquabiotics.net that can overnight you Neo3. Seahorsesource.com also has the product. It is a med designed to treat seahorses with vibrio infections at the correct dosage.

You might want to visist the emergency forum at seahorse.org.

Good Luck.
