Hey gang, so my new tailspot blenny is getting comfy in the tank after 3 days, starting to roam about, finding plenty of perches, and is being playful with the 2 clowns, however, i read it is an herbivore but some say omnivore... i tried tiny sized pellets and he watched em fall around him, i bought the 2 little fish mixed veggies flakes (nori) but he wouldnt come to the surface to get some...

tomorrow i will try mysis and see how that works...

feedback?

+1 to the brine shrimp and mysis.

Our Tail-spot Blenny never even knew that algae was on the menu until a new Kole Tang was added.
Only after it had watched the tang scrape at the glass and rocks, did the blenny join in on the herbivore diet.

An omnivore IME. Mine picks mysis, brine & Cyclops at feeding time with enthusiasm but doesn't eat as much as similar sized fish.

But he picks at LR, fuzz on the glass & quite a bit from the water column. Not sure what he's eating here, but it seems adequate. If he's out and about he's probably acclimating well. An excellent little fish. Good luck!

The one In my tank eats anything, nori, mysis, flakes, pellets, rocks, paper, floating sponges, frozen anything. I'm even guilty of feeding him a small piece of bacon, I knows I shouldn't but how can I deprive this guy of the best snack known to man kind. I was actually eating a sandwhich and adjusting an mp10 and a crumb fell in my tank and he snagged it. He couldnt eat it cause it was larger than his mouth but he did run around with it as other fish chased him and after it softened up he ate it whole. After that I feel guilty when he stares at me while I'm enjoying my breakfast.

:lmao:

That is Lounge worthy material!!!

Mine will eat anything, as long as it's small enough to fit in its mouth. I will crumble flakes and pellets into really small pieces, and it'll snag a few when they float by his favorite hidey hole. Got mine when it was no bigger than 1/4 inch. It's now about 2 inches. It also is constantly munching on the glass for bits of algae that grow there.

Try ON Formula 2 flakes. I had one & it took a while for him to go after the nori on a clip. Mine was a pig & ate anything that wouldn't bite him first. Unfortunately for him I like bacon too much to share. :)

Mine also ate pretty much everything offered. New Life Spectrum pellets were his staple, but he would also eat mysis or any other frozen food I offered. And he ate hair algae.
