Is this Macrodactyla doreensis slightly bleached, or is it just a rare color?

I would have to say that it is a little bleached.

IMO- if you are thinking of getting one of those of of DFS, you are near crazy, because you will pay nearly as much for shipping as you will the anemone itself.

I have $10,000.00 in my reef. I don't think 30.00 will break me. Thanks for your opinion....

Any one else think it's bleached?

I think if you want to give it a shot go for it.

Like most anything even anemones are subject to slightly different colors under different lighting in different tanks etc.

I have seen one like that once that wasn't bleached and it stayed a quite vibrant purple color, but other than that im unsure what color this could be bleached from.

Unfortunately only one real way to find out- so if you think you'd like it anyway go for it, but if you're weary and wouldn't be happy if it could change color, I'd hold off.

To put it simply, it is slightly bleahed but with good husbandry (strong lighting, stability and frequent feedings) it should easily regain its zooxanthellae. However, its pigmentation looks great. Go for it if you want it.
