Taking gfo and gac off-line

So I took gfo and gac off-line a couple weeks ago, and today I finally got around to unhooking the reactors to clean them and put them away. OMG does that stuff stink! Picture the worst smelling gunk out of your skimmer, and multiply that by a hundred. That stench permeates from one house to the other, and into the basement. I hope it goes away before my wife gets home lol. Well, lesson learned. I'll be unhooking the skimmer and bringing it outside to clean.

So not quite on topic, but how do you feel without the gfo and carbon? I have never run carbon or gfo, but I've been reading a bit about it and it's almost convinced me to try.

I have decided to give it a try. I am also taking my skimmer off line. I met a guy who doesn't run gfo or gac on his 180g. Bought some awesome frags from him. I did a 10g water change last week after mounting a bunch of frags. This week all parameters are spot on. Did a 5g water change this week. I'll see how it goes. I will keep everything close, just in case.
