Talbot's Damsel

I have had a Talbots damsel in my Invert and Coral QT tank for about 4 months now and i'm really starting to like his personality and his colors. I'm thinking of moving him to the Display Tank but being a damsel has me skeptical.

I have a 120 gallon Reef with all peaceful fish 2 Snowflake Ocellaris Clowns, 2 Pajama Cardinalfish, Firefish, Starry Blenny and a Ruby Red Dragonet.

Again my tank is very peaceful with no issues. Is throwing him into the tank going to cause issues. Or will he be ok. From reading it says they are one of the more peaceful damsels.

Anyone on have some input? Maybe you have one and can help me make my decision.

I've had a pair of them with clowns and a pair of pajama cardinal fish. They are great fish and mine lived in a 29 gallon bio cube. So much smaller space. They like rock, caves, nooks, and crannies. They never bothered any fish and are in the more peaceful family of Damsels. Personally I think Damsels get a bad rap and I actually have a mated pair in my 40 breeder now (Azure's though). Again, very peaceful fish.

I like pairs and you have more than enough room. I don't think you will go wrong and it will add a splash of color and movement. I've had nothing but luck with the pair I originally had.

How do you pair them? And do they do better as pairs or small groups? Like fernalfer I am trying to decide whether they are peaceful enough to add to my peaceful community and if so how many to add.

Good question. On the Azure's I have I started with three and for about 2 months or so everything was golden bombs of light and love. Then one day I saw a pair fighting. I tried to isolate and move but without tearing into the corals (I have a soft coral tank with some bubble tip anemones and large hammers) I gave up. It perished the next day and I have been left with two ever since (2 years now).

The Talbots I had years ago I just bought two and that was it. I don't think they are a pair. They never fought though but lived in different areas of the tank. Again, no expert here. But the Talbots lived apart, under some rocks, different sides of the tank. The Azures today, live near one another, and are always together. Always. One does chase a bit but pretty cool all in all.

Right now in my 40 breeder I have the pair of Azures, pair of pajama cardinals, and a mated pair of clowns. Everything is peaceful. With my original Talbots I just bought two. I lost the Talbots when I was moving but plan to add some to my 240 once it is finished.

thanks saf1-I guess its just watching them in the lfs and see if two of them seem to hang out together.
