Talk about a bad day

Heres this for a bad day. Saturday we planned on attending the frag swap, we made plans (myself, my brother and a friend of mine). After much negotiating i found a sitter for my two kids from friday to saturday night so that I could go. Got up Sat. at about 6am. My brother showed up at about 7:30, the upper radiator hose on his car (which we were taking) had blown on the way to my house. I quickly called my friend who was running late to redirect him to get parts. This wasnt really a problem because my brother is a mechanic and I have full facilities here to fix it. 8:30 came and went we had not heard from my buddy in awhile so I called him, he was still looking for a parts store that had the hose in stock. Time passes, he finally shows up with the hose and after ten minutes of automotive repairs we were on our way. The day itself went wonderfully, we had a blast looking, buying and talking to everyone up there. We also left the lights on in the car, it wasnt a cavilier it was a berreta. We left there about 4pm after getting lunch. Our navigator got us lost, we ended up on 251 south which runs parralell to 39, no big deal. Thats when we hit the storm. Wow how the roads got crappy fast, we went from 55 to 30 in less then a mile. We made it back to the qca at around 5:45 and my house and about 6:45 which is slow given that I only live twenty five minutes outside of town. Walcott was an erie site all truck lights and no power. At home I had no power and hadnt for several hours before i got home. My sitter said she would keep the boys, my brother and friend went home. I started to take care of things here (drain the water out of the house, start the kerosene heater, ect.) nothing I havent had to do before but I thought that I might get power back sometime soon. My tank mean while is sitting at about 60 degrees and the frags I bought are still in the bags. I am getting worried now that I cant keep things alive. I decided to bail on the house and get my entire tank to safety. I broke the tank down totally in about an hour and a half( rock packed and wrapped, livestock bagged and tagged, tanked drained and taken apart). Next was a slow drive to my buddy who lives in bluegrass, took me an hour at about twenty miles an hour in four wheel drive. Set the tank back up at buddy's house placed my live stock in his tank yadda yadda yadda. Thought I was going to lose my scooter blenny (he was a pale white and wasnt moving), he survived, but I lost all my corals that I had just bought and the few that I had already had. In total I lost 6 zoos, 1 kenya tree, 1 leather, 4 xenias and a mushroom that my girlfriend picked out as my first coral. I just got power back about 6 hours ago after not having it for 3 days. I now have to start almost completely over on stocking my tank. What a bad day!!

Keep your head up, let me know when our ready to restock.......I'm sure a few of us could donate a kenya tree or two, and I know I can find someone to replace that xenia

Ya let us know. We all know what it like to have a large loss. If you ever make it to waterloo or to a meeting let me know & I can hook you up with a few zoo's.

Sorry to hear about your tank :( I have lots of various mushrooms and a few zoos you can have for free if you're ever up near the new casino in Riverside.

Sorry to hear about your bad luck. I was gonna frag that zoo you were interested in after I change water tonight. This ones on me, I'll pm you when I get finished.

I'm with you! Luckily I found someplace to get my stuff and the way it sounds everything is doing all right. I actually have some palys and other stuff left on my rock in the tank and they're actually opening up. I figured everything would be dead. I do have a few leathers, (kenya tree, finger leather, colt) That I'm pretty sure are goners though.

Good luck with the fresh start.

Man Rico that sucks:sad1: sorry to hear about your loss. I'm so glad that I didn't lose electricity all it did here was flicker off and on.

Im sorry that I havent been on in a few days. I will pm all of you tomorrow or sunday. Thank You for all the kindness you guys show here, it is really appreciated. Before I posted I was thinking of giving up but you all have showed me there is a great deal of support here. Thank you so very much!

BTW I see that the next meeting is in Iowa city but where exactly and what time. I would like to attend and join. The support that I have gotten here has inspired my to join what sounds to be a great organization that works for its members. Thanks Again.
