Stand still uncovered(no doors yet). Still waiting for the sump being made.

Why not go 4 double hinged doors? (Frame-Hinge-Door-Hinge-Door Door-Hinge-Door-Hinge-Frame) That way you can open the smaller doors (held with magnets) or open it right up with something like a bolt lock.

Just a thought, bit more tricky, but more appealing. Looks great.

Also, my stand is 38" for a 24" tank. I use a stool, but still can't reach the back bottom without getting up to my shoulders.

nice set up!!!!!! I was wondering what size tank?? don't look like a 120. And what are those holes on the overflows for?? the ones that are like 1/3 of the way up from the bottom?? don't mind me asking, just curious. nice tank though!!!!

I'm still open for any suggestion on the stand. Though I really like two huge doors that would swing 180 to have more room for maneuvering huge equipt I'm trying to get in the stand. Thanks!

Yup there are three silicon corals there . Just trying them out. They came in a package of three, but only one looks very realistic. Good eyes! //Yes, the three MH in that light fixture are the 150W 10000Ks. Thanks.

The holes are actually also drains into the overflow. But they are channeled so the flow from those lower ones go up first with the top overflow water so they dont take priority over the more important saurface water that needs more skimming. Check out or Google Mega Flow by Marineland. They are th emaker of these conrner flow systems. I thin they are outstanding. The tank is 125 gals as claimed by the manufacturer, but measuring from it dimensions its volume is only actually 110gals.

I'm gonna copy your rockwork!!! hehehe, not exactly but I love the rockwork. I was thinking of doing something just like this because I love reef, but my obsession is with fishes. I want a lot of swimming space like yours.

It still opens the same amount.. A bad drawing (I'm not an artist..)

So the red doors are hinged on the blue doors.
The blue doors are hinged on the stand, and latched in place

This way you can fold the red doors back on the blue. Undo the latches and open the blue doors (with the red attached).

The plus side is it will only come out into the floor half the distance (less tripping hazard),
You don't have to have the full door out every time you need to do something.
Less leverage (a child leaning on a 3' door applies a lot of pull to the stand.)

You still get the same amount of usable opening. (hope that clarifies what I was trying to say)

Here's the rest of the gang checking out the new place!

I started moving them one by one, according to their aggresiveness few days ago. I'm going to have a five day gap before i move the last one, of course its the Purple Tang. He is the most bossy of them all. I'm hoping everyone claim their own turf first before he comes in.

Jthao, Thanks! I like the clean looks like I mentioned earlier. Not much into the cluttered setup of rocks. Also, as much I like coraline on rocks, I dont like it on the glass. I clean the glass whether it needs it or not every other day with the magnet cleaner. I usually see tiny specks of build up over a 24-hour period.

SGT Calypso, Didnt know you're here too! Good to catch up with you. Great diving story! I will be freaking out getting swept by the currnt 6km from where you started! Wow, thats an adventure!

Wizzard of Oz, I see! Now I understand what you meant. Now thats a great idea. that is definitely the ultimate door to have the biggest access! I just have to find the heavy duty hinges to carry that load! Thanks!

Here's a pic of my 120 (60" wide) when new...... The stand is 48" to the tank bottom with no center brace in front. Both doors open 180 degrees so there's lots of room with easy access underneath.

You will need smaller hinges, since the door only has half the length w/ the same weight (leverage at work, if a 3' door weighs 3lbs. and a 1.5' door weighs the same. the 1.5' door will not put as much strain on the hinge)

Ok Gents & Ladies,

Here are some pictures. I took out as much water as I could without exposing the top of the rocks out of water. I then unbolted the center leg and mallet it off. Boy, good thing I didnt put that much wood glue on it. Lessons learned... dont glue it until the sump is in :yes:
As you could see with the first pictures, just to be sure, I had to brace it with a 2X4.

I can now organize all the electrical wiring, terminals et al. The I could finish the covering of the stand. I'm still doing the brushed aluminum look with Formica Laminate, with Black doors.

I just installed my old Auto Top Off(ATO) system but with a bigger pump. Nothing fancy. I just want it to be functional and most importantly reliable specialy when I'm away on week long trips.

I used to have a smaller pump with this, I think it was a Rio 400(90GPH) which had a hard time pumping water up to 2 ft high(over the lip of the RO/DI container). So I was done with that tiny Rio pump and bought this Quiet One 1200 rated for 300gph to do the topping off job.

Also, since the ATO timer maxes out at 14 minutes to prevent accidental over dosing of fresh water, that smaller pump can not fill the sump in time to compensate with the evaporation rate, so it ended shutting down before the proper level is reached.
