This is going to be weird. I just had another person in another forum tell me that I asked a question with my mind already mad up. I didn't. However that is exactly what I'm doing here. Although I wouldn't say that my mind was made up. I just already mixed the two without research. So far they are doing fine. I just wanted to see what others have to say to see what I can expect in the long run. An maybe decide to give the other to a friend later. He's just starting a FOWLR.

Sounds like you have your mind already made up, j.k. Long term success is doubtful, the tomato will most likely kill the occy. If you want 2 different colored clowns, you could try an orange occy with your black one. Or try pairing up the tomato, with a cinnamon clown....

If they are both really small they will probably be fine together. Its possible to get some strange pairings and have them together, and potentially even breed them(Ive seen a marron and occy breed, or at least saw pictures of it on the internet.). But like slick said, they rarely get along. Tomato's are down right aggressive too so that never helps.

I wouldnt go as far as say probably.. however if they are small they might get along for a couple months, but once that tomato matures, you can expect bloodshed. Every once in while you hear an odd couple story and they are pretty cool. Except it leads others to believe it can be done and things go bad more often then not.

Sorry, you're right. I should have specified that they might be ok with each other for the very short term - i.e. a couple months.

I had a female tomato that was so mean she would try to jump out of the water and bite me any time I was near her tank. Cleaning her tank was always exciting and she eventually killed her mate. Like the others have said, tomato clowns can be aggressive so you probably would not have long term success with the two clowns, especially after the tomato matures.

You know, at first I was going to say that's not true; that you can have them together peacefully but I remember back to my old tomato clown. That thing was a beast and although it did well with the neon damsel I had with it, it hated every clown in that tank ... and didn't like anemones, either.
