Tang addition order???

I currently have the following Tangs in my 210 reef and would like to add quite a few more. Give me your suggestions please! What sizes? What order? Is it possible? How to add them? Thanks guys

Currently have:
Large Blonde Naso
Large Blue Hippo
Medium Clown

Want to add:
Mustard/Jewel
Chevron
Yellow
Purple
Sohal
Powder Blue
Yellow Mimic/Chocolate

I know everyone is going to say that the yellow and purple will fight, but I have seen many people get away with it. How do they do it?

i dont think the sohal will be appropriate for that tank. he will quickly outgrow it. that is quite a few tangs in that tank. I'd say five would be max. powder blues are huge bullies i would add him last.

I personally would stick with what you have, I think adding any more is just asking for trouble, especially with you already having a clown tang in there.

First there will be bio-load issues -- would have at least 5 tangs that get over a foot, plus all the other ones.

Then, you already have an established Clown tang, which is only second to a Shoal as far as having a bad disposition.

In addition, there would be a great deal of stress going on -- will be a lot of fighting having 10 tangs in a "small" tank (( 210 is small for that many tangs )). Stress can/will weaken an immune system, which in turn could turn into ick.

Then there is the whole issue of swimming space.

I would be wary of adding any sort of Acanthurus tang with that clown tang in there. You may get away with a Zebrasoma or two.

Regarding the yellow and purple combo, I added mine in at the same and they get along fine. In a previous tank I added a yellow after the purple, and they fought like demons for about three days, after which they also were fine.

Agree as well....Acanthurus Tangs are tough to mix other than in very large systems....I would love to do an Achilles and Sohal in my 240, but i'm not gonna do it, I need to just pick one.

my achilles hates my hippo, but gets along with everyone else. My sohal on the other hand. hated everyone

Can I make this work? I will add the yellow and purple at the same time and add the PB last
I know Im not supposed to add more than one Acanthurus, but I love the Powder Blue!!!

What do you think? Still too many fish?

You may not want to hear this, but I wouldnt add anymore. You should consider you self very lucky so far because keeping a clown tang is a feat within itself. Tangs in the right conditions will grow very fast. I somewhat regret going tang crazy, because my 220 that I thought was huge setup for my tangs lasted a year or so. The 450 then got small very quickly also.
If you are going to do it no matter what QT your fish because PB's, Hippos and clown tangs get ich very easily. Once you add all them together ir will stress everyone and hence you dont want ich in the tank.

I have a pair of 210G tanks. I love tangs. I would not add any more either.

If I had to pick one on that list, I would go with the purple. I have 4 in all of my tanks and they seem to grow very quickly to 5.5 inches and then nearly stop. It could live it's whole life in that tank after the clown, naso and hippo are long gone.

I would venture to guess that one day, the clown will decide that it isn't going to be nice anymore and start to try and kill most of what you have. Happened to me - went from 3" to 7-9" in less than a year and one day started hammering the other fish. It would have killed them too in a few more hours if I had left it in there.

I will also support the bio load argument. Tangs need swimmign room to be happy, but perhaps even more important is food. Most reef owners don't want to feed tangs nearly enough to keep the N and P levels down. This is a recipie for disaster. I have a good tang load in one of my 210G FOWLR tanks and I use the large jug of spectrum pellets, 30 sheets of Nori and 5 packs of mysis a month - this would spell disaster for a reef.

I personally think that the chevron, purple and yellow tangs would be fine considering the fact that they are going to come in less that 4 inches (note: bigger or close the size of your current fish and it will become disasterous and also because i think tangs look nicer when there smaller excluding the naso genus). Bureau13 said this earlier and i completely agree with him on adding the purple and yellow together.
