Tang feeding question

Hey, was wondering if when feeding a tang nori, is best to feed a small portion of nori and take out the leftovers, or just feed a larger portion and let them eat it over a few days. Just wondering how most people feed.

Generally, my thoughts on feeding Noro, particularly to tangs / angels is to put in a generous (but not wasteful) amount, as early in the day (after lgihts on) as possible. Let it in there all day for them to graze on it, as and when they please, and then remove whats not eaten shrotly before lights out. Do this on a daily basis. If its gone, then you are not feeding enough..... if there is laods left, you are feedgin too much..... adjust accordingly until typically, the little bit thats left in the evening isn't worth getting your figners wet for, then simply remove and disgard the following day......

Depends on what else you are feeding, what type of tang it is, and how much natural grazing is available from LR etc.......

Half a sheet every 3 days and once a week I add couple of drops of vita-chem and garlic for 5 minutes before feeding. They finish it in a couple of hours.

I put in 1/4 sheets of nori & within 5 minutes its all gone. my puffer & scribbled rabbitfish share it. even my domino damsel gets in on it. maybe I should start putting in 1/2 sheets.

Tangs are very great Algae eaters. Depending on size of fish, I would recommend you feed 1/4 sheet of nori on a wall clip. Note your fish over time will get acustom to you feeding it and should eat more and more. Again, Tangs are great Algae eaters.

If fish gets scared of feeding clip it is also a good idea to place some nori on a small piece of rock and through in the tank. You can use small rubber bands to hold food.

If your Tang is heatlhy, you should have no problems...

I found the following method to be really easy and effective after having one of my nori clips break.

I had three 5"+ rabbitfish in my tank who could absolutely RUIN nori. For them, I found that it was fine to just throw in about 1/8 of a sheet every time I walked by the tank (not clip it, but literally toss it on top of the water).

They would play tug-of-war with the sheet and tear off small enough chunks for themselves in the process. For you, estimate what fraction of a sheet your fish could finish in one "sitting" and adjust accordingly. I think once the fish realize the nori will be delivered at the surface rather than on the clip, this feeding method works fine.

I done that when I didn't want to get my hand wet in getting the magnet out that I used to tie the nori to. My problem is that I've 6 powerheads and one of them will suck the nori to the casing and I don't want my fish getting too close to propeller of pulling the nori out.
