Ok so I have a 30 gal reef tank and I really want a tang. I know it is small and not enough room. I was thinking if I got a small yellow tang into my tank and in a year or so I get a bigger tank could I have one?

No, it does not matter how small the Tang is. They need a big tank because of how much swimming they need to do to stay healthy, it has absolutely nothing to do with how big they are or how big they get.

It doesnt have to be hard or expensive to up size. craigslist FTW You should be able to find a decent set up probly cheaper than the tang cost.

Well that may be exaggerated but you get the idea

tangs need a 6ft tank atleast! anything smaller and they get stressed usually come down with ich.

I have a 4 foot long 120 gallon tank and I want a tang too - but I'm not going to do it. They are big tank fish.

Check out the tomini AKA Flame fin tang the are in the bristle
Tooth family of surgeon fish and are one of the smallest representatives
Of the genius I have heard folks successfully keeping them in smaller tanks as the only
Medium size fish along with other smaller reef fish and they have thrived
Don't get very big at all check them out might be just what

I would never stick a tang in anything less then a 6ft tank. Imagine sticking yourself in a large dog kennel, you would get stressed out. I have a vlangami tang which is 7-9" and I am currently trying to find a bigger home for. They get big quick and need lots of swimming room.
