I'm having difficulty with my sole remaining fish in my 100Gal tank. He's a yellow tang, I've had him about six months.
Tonight I came home from work to find him having difficulty swimming and losing color on his belly. It seems like it takes all his effort just to stay in place. The lower part of him in front is turning white - not in spots, just a broad whitening of the belly. In addition, there is a small nick in the fin along his back; I've never seen any parts of him missing before.
He's the only fish left in that tank; the flame angel that originally went into the tank with him disappeared a couple months ago. The water parameters appear normal - no (detectable) ammonia, pH swinging between 8.0 and 8.2 over the course of the day (lower than I'd like it, but consistent with the way its always been), temperature high at about 81-82F (but then its always been that way)
Nothing has changed with the tank recently - I haven't put in any new livestock, haven't changed my routine, water filtration or feeding. I did cut back some of the macro algea growing in the tank, but there is still many times his body weight to eat (on top of the nori that I occasionally feed him)
Anyone have any idea what might be the problem? Or even better, what I should do about it?
Thanks
