Tang with green coloration

Are there any tangs with green ?

I was snorkeling in hawaii, and either saw a green body or green tail (oddly i am now unsure) on some tang fish (was highly certain the fish had a tang shape and not wrasse/parrotfish)

I did look up some pictures online and noticed something

Which is highly different looking from the average acanthurus nigrofuscus.

Any comments on this or whether there are any surgeonfish with green ?

I have had an A. nigrofuscus and it was not green at all. None of the ones I have ever seen were remotely green. I think the colors in that photo you linked are due to lighting.

Yeah thats what I was worried about. It was really shallow water that i was snorkelling at that I saw many of these tangs with the green colour though, so is it a region specific green ?

I'm pretty sure they exist, but I can't ID the specimen (though I agree the average LFS lavender tang is dark and as nice as the picture).

And I also wish i rented a underwater camera

It was probably due to the lighting and water clarity. compared to the wild its amazing how different artificial lighting can make some fish and corals look.

Weird though, the wild ones look better than any store/photo i've seen (save for the one i linked).

Kinda the opposite of what I expected
