Tangs for 125 gallon

Well, it's there for a number of reasons. First of all, it's 4 inches, not 18 . Second, it was in my 265 but got the proverbial stuffing beaten out of it by the resident tangs (none of them are 18" either). Once it gets a bit of size, I shall reattempt. But for now, it's fine in the 'grow out' 90. As for the convict, I've kept them for many years, and none of mine got much past 6". Not sure how long you've been in the hobby, but I think you will find with a bit of experience that very few fish actually attain their wild size in captivity. Doesn't mean one should crowd them, of course, but even tangs I've had in the past for over 10 years didn't get wild large. I think the RC suggestions for tang tank sizes are good ones; even if we all probably 'push' them a bit.

Ah that makes more sense, a 265 is a much better place for a Naso, hope it works out well! And ok with the convict, I've seen a 9in Convict in a 4ft x 30in tank and it looked quite big, but if yours stay at 6in, then that's probably fine. I've been in the hobby for over 10 years and I've had and seen many fish that have grown extremely close their full size. I've personally had a Yellow Tang that grew to about 8in, which was a sight to behold. I've also seen a 18in Naso Tang, a 27in Bluespine Unicorn Tang, a 20in Hawaiian Black Trigger, and others. Oh well. lol. Maybe other people don't have their fish as long or maybe I do something differently?

Thanks guys! I think I am going to go with a Sohal and every species in Genus Naso. Should fit right? =P

Even Naso Tergus? Where are you going to get one? They were only discovered in 2011 and as far as I know there aren't any pictures of them. There are 18 species in Naso, the largest getting to about 3 feet long! I'd love to see one compared to a 90 gallon lol.

Who knows. Feeding, tank size, genetics, other fish, longevity ...... solar flares .... I got a Naso and sailfin to about 10" and a Sohal to about 8" (mean ba$tard) but otherwise most have stayed smaller.
