Tangs in a 210 Gallon?

Im curious if i can add all these tangs or if i should stay away from mixing some of them

I currently have:

Red Firefish
Blue Hippo Tang
Angel Dwarf
Yellow Butterfly Longnose
3 Osclarrious Clowns
Lawnmower Blenny


I would like to add:

Gold Rim Tang
Powder Blue Tang
Powder Brown Tang
3 Yellow Tangs

Would that be okay in a 210 Gallon or would there be fighting?
 
You'd be okay with adding more but not the 3 (gold/powd blue/powd brown). I'd pick one of the three plus the yellows.
 
I would add a max of 2 tangs to your existing one. One yellow and one gold rim of the ones you posted.
 
3 yellows will not work out in that tank. I tried it in a 72x24x30 and it was nothing but a constant beat down. All 3 always had nipped fins and were stressed. Unless the tank is large, stick with 1 yellow. And the 2 fish that are both commonly called 'powder brown' (white cheek and white face) won't get along in that tank, not with each other nor with the powder blue. I'd pick one from that lineup to be successful.
 
Personalities vary, but out of those 3 I think the powder blue is the prettiest. I have a powder brown in my current tank and I enjoy him as well. Its to bad the two don't mix.
 
Not on your list but u want a tang with great personality? Look for a sailfin tang! easier to find, hardy compaired to some other tangs and a great looking fish. My sailfin is my favorite fish/tang. She loves getting pictures taken and when i put my hand in the tank she comes right up to me and i can stroke her side without her jetting away. I know shes happy to see my when i get home from work cause she kinda swim skips around the tank for a while. Amazing fish.. thinks she's a dog i swear. lol

I dont know if i just got lucky but ive seen a bunch of pictures of sailfins and mine is differant. Where her "razors" are she is very vibrant blue and it really stands out. Gorgeous fish, be sure to see one in person, not just pictures before you count them out.

Yup sure do, lots.... at work right now ill be sure to post a couple up here when i get home from work.

Yea they can get big. Im pretty new to tangs but i think 16" is rare. Sure they are able to get that big but from what ive been told and seen that is an oddity. I could be way off here but imo the average full grown in an aquarium would probably be around 9-10".

That's because in a 120 or 180 etc, they don't live long enough to reach adult size. ;)

most die young. a full adult is dinner plate size.


powder blues are some of the most aggressive.

Choose whichever one you like the most. They are basically the same fish with different colors, IME.

Powder Browns (A. japonicus) are the easiest to keep out of the three. Powder blues and gold rims are both a bit more difficult, but if you find a healthy specimen they are not too difficult.

All sailfin tangs (zebrasoma veliferum) have a blue spot on the caudal peduncle, just like what you described.
 
I like my Gold rim(whitecheek). Beautiful fish. Basically they are all the same fish with different colors. I think the powder blue is the best looking, but I have a hippo so I wanted something different color.

I also have a sailfin and bang for your buck that is a great fish. They are inexpensive, hearty and with the exception of my whitecheek, gets along with everyone.
 
When i was starting i lost a Powder brown and a gold rim tang.. I bought the gold rim because he followed me all around the store in the tang and kept coming to the glass looking in my eyes..He looked very bad and lost most of his color but it was a baby and It was a must have.. Sadly he only lasted a week :(

They both attain the same size, 16-17". As big as everyone thinks the sohol gets, the sailfins are bigger! Not to mention they can raise the 'sail' and seem even bigger still. They are the biggest tangs in the zebrasoma family. And I'm not real sure what a 'regular one' is. lol
