Tangs Repeatedly stung by torch coral?

I have 3 tangs in my tank currently. A powder Blue, Regal, and a Scopas. the Regal, and Powder blue have been having recurring issues at first glance, I thought was ich. The 2 tangs are the only to have any symptoms.

When I first noticed it about 4 weeks ago, I thought for sure it was an ich, but when it seemed to clear up the next day, I wasn't so sure anymore. About a week later, it happened again, and again cleared up.

Yesterday it happened again, and this morning, its all but gone again. This got me to thinking that it may be coral stings. The blue hippo, and the powder blue, are the largest fish in the tank, and about 2 months ago, I added a torch coral. The Torch has probably 4 heads, but its just huge. When fully extended the tentacles extend a good 8-9" on some days. It is getting enough light. Mid tank/Cree Leds, and catches tons of food when feeding, and gets target fed once a week.

I guess my question is, has anyone seen their fish get stung regularly by a torch/hammer/anemone or anything else? If so, can it resemble ich with welts?

Thanks,

-Andy

I have two decent-sized (4-5") torch corals and I've never seen any of my fish stung by them. Do you have pictures of the affected fish? Also, what is the history of the fish (when added, how/if they were quarantined, when was the last fish added etc.)?

The tangs have been in the tank over a year, no new fish added recently. I did add some corals at the same time as the torch. Ill try to snap some today if it shows back up, but it has again cleared. They were both QT'd for 2-3 weeks upon arrival.

I think I will try to move the torch into a spot that the tangs aren't frequenting so much.

The only other thing I can think of is the fact that my 90g is quite a bit too small for the tangs, causing them to bump the torch more often than they should. I have a 220 cycling, but its not ready, and even if it was, Im unsure I would attempt a transfer with the current predicament.

If you are seeing symptoms come and go on a regular basis, I would suspect a parasite is the cause, not the coral.

Well I suppose all I can do it wait it out and see if it comes back again, and get some pics.

Ill research parasites in the mean time. I suppose it could be ich, but they are not rubbing, eating great, and not really acting like its bugging them in any way. In a previous tank, I had ich, and it never seemed quite like this. I suppose all tanks are different. Ill post pics when I get them.

Thanks
