i'm setting a new 135g cube i wanted to get a chevron tang for sure but was also thinking about another tang not sure which one or is this tank to small for tangs. suggestions for another nice tang wanted? or advice if i can or should stay away from to tangs thanks -Ashby

Any of the Ctenochaetus tangs would be fine, as well as most of the Zebrasoma tangs. Just avoid sailfins (Z. veliferum and Z. desjardini) and you should be okay. That said, I'd be more comfortable with the exact measurements. Linear swimming distance is more important than total volume for most tangs.

Chevron is an excellent choice. I too feel that linear swimming distance is MUCH more important that volume.

36*36*24 is definitely not ideal, but a Ctenochaetus tang like a chevron would be a good choice. Tomini, kole, striatus/lined, or something similar would be good. You might be able to get away with a yellow or purple, but I would stick to a bristletooth.

Agreed with chibils, the chevron would be alright with that tank. I may catch heat for this, but I've found the mimic tangs make good additions for smaller reefs as well... they stay about the same size as the ctenochaetus genus.

I have a 10 foot long tank and my tangs just love to cruise from one side to the other. I can't imagine most tangs would be happy in anything less than 6 foot.
