well im in the middle of setting up my 2nd aquarium. i already have a yellow tang that i will put in it but i was wondering about the regal (blue) tangs. i would post the tank size but lets just say it is significantly bigger than my 50. i just dont want to get into a conflict about the size of the tank even though i know it will be fine. anyway i guess my question is, how are they as in keeping them?? are they easy to keep healthy?? are they generally shy and hide or do they swim around alot?? they are reef safe right??

again im not trying to be a pain by not posting tank size, i just want to get the answers without getting way off topic about the size

You will be fine with that selection they wil get along. Put the yellow in last, they can get nasty sometimes if put in as the first fish!

My Regal is constantly active & is the tank bully.will eat anything that's moving but darts for cover whenever my hand goes in the tank,a beautiful fish IMO.

my yellow is in a 300 and tries to run things big time and its about 2" maybe 3" if that. thing is i feel sorry for him once my angels go in.

but yeah i would hold him in a temp place until u get the other tang then give the tang a day or so to acclimate then pop the yellow in pref after lights out.

be a good wakeup surprise for both fish and maybe move a rock or 3 for the time being then replace it.

I've had my hippo tang for about 5 years, and it is not shy at all. They do like to dart into rocks if spooked, so have lots of rockwork, with big enough spots for a big one to hide in. Mine will eat out of my hand and is the boss of the tank. My yellow tang is much shyer than the hippo. You just never know what personality the fish you get will have.

haha yeah my yellow right now swims around all the time but when i put my hand in the tank he takes cover, also when i put food in the tank for some reason he wont eat if im standing next to the tank he just hides and looks at me but the second i walk away hes out there getting some food. saltwater fish are so much more interesting than freshwater in my opinion
