Checked usual situations.
Have probe in water
I feed 3 colors of nori ( green,red,brown)
I feed twice a day mysis, enriched brine and plankton
both eat well and swimming fine
both have been in tank 4 months
no nitrite,nitrates ,ammonia
ph 8.3
alk was low at 7 but slowly bringing it back up
zero phosphates
Did 30% water change 1 week ago
my 7 other tangs and 30 other fish have no signs just the mimic and orange shoulder

so if its not the stray electric and not diet ????

have the same disease on my tang, somebody told me about how carbon could be causing this. you have carbon?

ya I just started to use seachem 24/7. what could be in the carbon? what would I do to change the effect? I was using black diamond 24/7 before the change.

any power running through the tank?

also try feeding zoecon and zoecom adding kent marine C to the water

now my juv atalntic blue has it. so its 3 fish now. The only power in tank are my two tunze 6100's

Joe, That looks like the begining of lateral line decease, try soaking the nori you are feeding with a little selcon, make sure your tank is grounded.

try frozen broccoli florets you know just the "good" parts... have to be the frozen ones..... freezing breaks down the cell walls for easier digestion and something in the broccoli is pretty nutritious and helps the HLL

Hey Joe,

That looks like HLLE. Try adding some Cod Liver Oil to your food (available at Target and most other pharmacies, you may need to ask, sometimes its behind the counter). Its really rich in Vitamin A, D, and Omega fatty acids, which can sometimes be lacking in a fish's diet, since we don't tend to feed whole fish to our little ones, rather just chopped up fleshy parts. Don't add too much though, it might make your skimmer go a little nutto, so start out gradual.

Our Purple tang went lateral in QT quite bad, and I started supplementing with this, and he pretty much made a full recovery.

Keep testing your parameters though, their might be something obscure thats off in your water.

Are the fish eating and behaving normally? How is the respiration rate? It does sound like it could be the beginnings of HLLE. Increase the variety of plant based foods in the diet and start soaking the food alternately in vitamins and Selcon. There is a link in another current thread here to a three part series of articles on HLLE.
