Finally got around to drilling my tank, now im working on trying to get the baffles in the correct place in the sump.. did some mods to my skimmer (mesh mod-gate valve mod) now i just gotta buy some salt, heaters and some rock.. should i use 2 heaters since its about 180 gallons with sump? which kinds should i use? For lights i have VHO with a icecap 660.. were going on vacation this comming up week so i plan on starting when i get back. for flow im gonna have to seio 2500 and a mag 9.5 for a return pump.. any ideas on how i should set my sump up? i was gonna have the water drain into the skimmer section then flow into the cheato/LR then into the return pump.. does that sound right?

dr fosters and smith are pretty decent for salt, I just purchased 3 160G buckets delivered for $106 ($10 freight included)

what are the 2 holes? returns or drains? what kind of overflow are you planning? also how are you going to handle water circulation? :)

I wouldn't paint the back because you might want to change the color in the future. You can buy an all blue or black background for it...

you do need to do somethign though because having the tank next to the window with no background is gonna cause you issues if sun light is comng through

the holes are for drains, for return im gonna come up over the back, and im getting 2x seio 2600 for in the tank.. the window its in front of is a porch and the curtans are down most of the time.. what wattage heaters do u recomend and should i get 2 or just 1? thanks

here is what I am trying now for an overflow system (9 months). I still have the soft pipe drain hose installed. There is no need for a stockman or durso standpipe. There is some noise from it (sounds like one of those little rock gardens people buy for the water noise)

The box is 4 sided and I have the bulkhead going through the back panel (I can remove the box this way for cleaning if needed) and when the bulkhead is tightened, it holds everything in place

The white wingnut holds a panel on the front to regulate water height. The box is also full of reef rubble to break water fall noise. Finally there is a cap on the box itself to stop noise and any mist from escaping.

i don't think im gonna use overflows, im thinking about putting a 90 degree elbow on the inside of the tank and a 'strainer' type thing on it so no fish or inverts can get sucked down it.. its cheaper than buying overflow boxes.. would a mag 9.5 be a good return pump for what i have going on.. also how should i set up my baffles.. ive seen sumps with a few inbetween each chamber and ive seen tanks with just 1 to seperate them.. any pics would be great! thanks

Ok you was on again no reply about broken skimmer I fixed and no lid to cup you have until Monday to make this right I have tried now for several months Im tired of the games

I made those boxes, it is nuts to spend $60-120 to buy them. I got the materials for about $30 locally and have leftovers..

The 90 degree stuff will work but is not very good at surface skimming and you can have siphon issues with them as well.
