Other than glasscages..who are the manufacturers I can get to make a custom tank and stand for me? I remember reading about a few but have forgotten.

I am looking to get a custom tank too. I haven't heard of Ocea, do they do tanks or just stands?

I was quoted for Mirales, glasscages, coast to coast and reef savy.

Reef savy had the best price and they have a tremendous amount of positive feedback on reef central for both tanks and customer service. They are located in Miami. I don't know if they do stands but I woodwork for a hobby too so I am looking to build my own.

If there is not place local we could try to coordinate our purchase and split shipping or take a road trip.

I would go with Rhett Great Prices as well Im getting my Stand and Canopy from him Great Guy to deal with

I would also check out the following, A.G.E. (the owner actually) was very helpful with a custom tank quote, also they have a "standard" series that is more economical. You will have to order it through a LFS, I would suggest AC. I ended up geting a Deep Sea Aquatics (DSA) through AC, I got a standard model, Neo 90.

DSA's shipping was free for a standard distributor tank/stand, AGE shipping was $75 crate fee, and around $250-$300 for shipping...tank I got quoted from AGE was 36x24x21 (I think), rimless, starphire 3 sides, PVC bottom, choice of drilling, (one of their non-custom tanks) $945

But yeah, my next tank will likely be an Ocea through Rhett.

I have an Ocea tank.

The seams have many silicon bubbles, some of which are quite long. It holds water nicely so far - added bonus.

Overall I am unhappy with the quality of the tank and would not buy another. While the blemishes are minor, they are there. I guess I am pickier than most about my purchases. It seems most people don't care. There is also a tiny bubble in the front glass pane, like an air bubble, which will always be there. I discovered that after the tank was set up and I fired up the Halides. How convenient.

The stand and canopy are done well. It took two tries to get my tank right, supposedly that problem was corrected but while the second tank is much better, it is no comparison to a DSA, AGA, or even a Perfecto tank.

You do get what you pay for. In this case I paid for a glass box that holds water. Mission succeeded. If you want a work of art, I would go for a DSA aquarium.

thanks zach...the review does help and I do care about quality

You're welcome. The edges of the glass are also a bit rippled. Not the perfect straight edge you see on commercial tanks. To me, that's indicative of the score and snap method, not laser cutting which other companies use. Again, no big deal, really, just something I personally notice.

One thing about Ty he himself makes good tank. I've seen some great looking tank made by him. Just the last years he's got more orders that him and his brother could handle. So they got some help but to bad the help wasn't pro's.

So now that being said I know he is doing PVC bottoms on all of his tanks. Like to see how his tanks look now.

I've seen Zach's tank and I would of send it back for the 2nd time. And paied extra to it right. It looked bad. Sorry Zach. Like he said you get what you pay for. Now that ocea went up on the $$$ on his tank I hope that he got better workers for him and takes there time. Or does it himself. But his stand and canopies are nice for the price. I did get a stand from him it looks nice just had lil stain issue that will get fixed as soon I get my lazy butt to rhetts.

I don't feel I should have had to pay extra to get what I was paying for in the first place. Sad thing is, from what I understand, he did do my tank himself, with another guy (the delivery man). If I sent it back a second time I'm sure I would have gotten the same results on number 3. You should have seen the first one.

Yeah your most likely right on #3 tank.
I think if I'm going to have something in my work or home for a show piece. I'll pay extra for top notch. That what I meant. I got a used 180 profecto tank that I know I will not use as my main display tank. I been look for the past 6 months for the prefect tank. And Ive been looking in to age andcustom aquarium designers the prices are all most the same CAD being higher both use laser cutters on the glass for a clean cut. But CAD do work for rich and famous and big tank like 500 gal and up. And the wood work they do is highend. I've seen one of there tanks at someone famous house that was amazing. And he payed alote for it. Wish I still had the pic of it. Let's just say he said it cost half of some peoples homes. And they come and take care of it for him. Anyways the most import thing in this hobby is research for every lil part. I wish I had the skillz to do it myself.

Keep use posted on what you end up going with. I may be
in for one those tank from Miami. Never looked in to htem I guess more research for me.

I like Ty and think his cabinets excellent, but becasue of recent issues with with Rhett's and Zach's tanks I bought a perfecto 220 on Tuesday from AC....yep, yet another tank for me. I will be replacing my 180 with it and seeling the 180 when it is empty. When I am all done, I will have two 220's.

I decided this so that I did not have tanks of varying height next to eachother.

Zach and Zef both are right with what they said. Im proud to say Ty has ironed out the issues he was having and is making stuff like he used too. Ive seen some tanks and stands he has done in the last few weeks and they look great. Everyone has set backs and bad times and as much of a good guy he is Im proud to see everything going better for him. Wish everyone the best on their new tanks.

Andy you should just get a 500 gal tank. Lol.

Rhett well put. Like I said he did make some great looking tank and glad Ty has ironed those issue.
I'm just thinking out loud Maybe Ty would let us as a club come by and see how tanks are made and maybe this will help restore his biz. Just a tthought. And be cool to see what all goes into makeign a tank.

I thought he had fixed his issues when he made my tank. Guess he really fixed the issues after mine, so now I still get one of the poorly made tanks. I'm not pleased. I need to contact the Critter and find out what can be done about that glass bubble though, that is seriously irritating me. I am happy to see that he is back on track, his business has serious potential and is nice to see quality tanks on the market that don't break the bank.

He did do great tanks. That's one of the reasons why I chose to go with Ocea in the first place. I too am happy to hear everything is back on track. I would definitely be up for a trip there, it would be interesting. Maybe if I turn this tank back in to the critter I can work out a 180 upgrade deal with one of the tanks made correctly.

Andy, I can't remember, are your overflows on the back of the tank corner overflows, or rear facing?
