Thought this may be a good place to ask.
I recently have seen several aquacultured Maroon Clownfish at 2 different LFS. I didnt ask where they came from as far as who aquacultured them. But anyway, I think it is the first time that I have seen the tank bred Maroons in person. These all shared the same general characteristics. They had a body shape that was just like that or wild Maroons. They seemed to have the dark eyes. But they all had thinner stripes and some of them even had incomplete striping compared to the widl fish. The colors varied more. From Maroon to a lighter color almost like inbetween a percula orange and maroon. Liek a very light maroon color. Also, the coloring was more pastel looking. No matter what the actual color was, it wasnt s vivid or intense as the wild maroons. It was more of a pastel type color. They all appeared healthy. They all appeared to act like theior wild counterparts in terms of swimming motion. Didnt look like the behavior was any different. Just the appearance as I described.
So, does anyone know if this is normal? Are aquacultured Maroon Clownfish typically more varied in color with more of a pastel look (not as vivid or intense color) and thinner and/or incomplete stripes?
Anything else anyone can tell me about the differences?
Thanks for any info you can provide.
