Tank build question.

I would like to build a tank but need a little advice from the experts. My size options are 84"L x 24"W x 24"H, 84"L x 30"W x 30"H, or 84 x 36 x 30. 36" wide is the size I would love the most to build, haven't checked prices on glass yet. I need to someone to help me out on the glass thickness on these sizes non-tempered. I would search the site for info but search function does not work for me. Thanks

The height of the tank is mainly what you need to worry about on the glass thickness.

On the 24" tall tank, you could use 3/8" glass.
On the 30" tall tank, use 1/2" glass.

84"x30"x30" or 84"x36"x30" would use the same size glass. The width of the tank would not affect the glass thickness.

Could I go without support/rimless with 5/8"?

I don't know the answer to that question. I would guess you would need thicker.

I don't know for sure, but the length (84") of the tank might affect the rimless option. With the glass supported so it can not bow, the glass thickness above will work. With the center unsupported, the glass will want to bow in the center and will probably fail if not fairly thick.

Most rimless tanks sold are short (about 12" tall) if they're long (over 60") or if they're taller (about 24") they're usually not as long (36" to 48"). I'm sure this is for a reason. I think it would be hard to find any rimless above 24" tall without being extremely thick glass. Same for length. I think for your dimensions you will need some type of center support or it will cost a small fortune.

Yes, all glass, I have a buddy that owns a glass shop. Going low iron glass on three sides, it will be a peninsula between living room and kitchen.

All glass, in my opinion, would need some support on the size you want to build.
