Tank Cleaning Help

I just picked up an old tank that's got about 5-6 years worth of built up old coralline algae and crud encrusted everywhere. Looking for suggestions on the best way to clean it. I can take a razor blade to the glass, but what about the parts that are plastic or silicone? Thanks!

Fill it with warm water and distilled vinegar and let it soak. Everything should just wipe away. Also, pick up a plastic algae blade from the lfs.

I 3rd that motion. If you have time, the longer the soak, the easier it will come off. In fact, fill the tank, add the vinegar, a powerhead and let it sit for a day. Nice and clean with ver minimal work.

100% vinegar soak, a credit card and a nylon brush have done magic for me. If you don't want to spend too much money on vinegar, do one panel at a time, it will just take more time for each side because of the soak.

Good luck.

Vinegar is cheap, less then 3 bucks. Fill it, dump vinegar in it and let it sit or a day. If your not in a rush, let it sit longer and it will dissolve the stuff. Like the others have said, use a CC (preferably one with a high balance and interest rate) to scrape. Be careful around the silicone.
