Already lost a Starry Blenny before I had a chance to get a cover on my tank. What's does everyone use? I bought egg crate but with my light, I have the egg crate shadow lines in my tank. What DIY's did you guys try??

Bulk reef supply has a nice screen kit
I went with one for my 120
I used glass and Home Depot plastic gutter guard on my 75

I made screen tops for mine. Regular screen kits from the big box Home depot and lowes both have them. I use deer netting for the screen, the kind you put over your plants and garden so the deer doesnt eat your greenery.

Ive got a bunch of the netting because you have to buy a whole roll for the little bit you use. If you need some PM me and we can get together.

I recommend the 1/4" clear mesh from bulk reef supply with the screen kit. I tried using the black 1/2" deer mesh from Home Depot and my Midas Blenny jumped right through it. :mad2:

I haven't had any more jumpers since going with the BRS clear mesh.

I'm trying 1/4" plexi with holes drilled every 4" x 3". Should still get the gas exchange and it should keep the glass from fogging up. Fingers crossed.

It's 1/4". I cut in two pieces (18x12's) and drilled. No real sagging, but it doesn't seem to be helping it from fogging up.

I my experience it would warp and sag in a few weeks to months. I tried something similar with a 1/4" piece that was only about 18x10 and it warped in a couple months - Thats when I found the netting at BRS and now I use it for a lot of things.

I use the BRS netting also and have to change it every year. The heat from the lights eventually makes it brittle.
