Can anyone give me any advice on what to use for the frame to make a tank cover? I have screen from home depot left over from when I redid my storm door and I'd like to make a cover to make sure the fish stay put. Any advice?

The rails from home depot or lowes are fine. You can get the corners from there too. I would buy the screen from BRS though.

Maria,
If you have any corals window screen will stop too much light.
Aquarium Village in Westbury carries the 1/4" screening.
HD & Lowes both have the aluminum to make custom screens & plastic corners.

wood corners from HD or Lowes are awesome.....they can look real nice if cut, assembled, and finished well.

I made a screen top by just stapling the screen to some lathe that home depot was selling for a very cheap price. By the way, I don't know what kind of screen you have, but when I bought mine, at a hardware store, I told the clerk what I wanted it for and they pointed out the screen that let in the most light. However, I wasn't growing corals, so didn't really need high intensity light to go through the screen.

Good luck and have fun!

So very helpful! Thank you.

You're welcome. You inspired me to make a new top for my new tank.

If you can give me the measurment that you need for yours, I can check if one of my old tops will fit your tank.
It will need new screen but its a complete frame that you can have for free.

Thanks so much. I actually went out to hd the other day and built the top. I used bird netting for the screen. Works great. Now my mystery wrasse is safe! :0)
