Tank cracked...everything flooded

Well I came home from being away for a few days to see my 180g entirely empty. We made it back just in time to keep the mated pair of clowns and a yellow tang alive, but the other fish didn't make it. The tank must have cracked on the bottom pane.

I built the stand myself and the top had about 1/16" of a concave to it and it must have caused too much stress. The tank has been going for a few months now though.

A reefer's worst nightmare. Was there a lot of water damage to your house?

So far there isn't any damage to the laminate flooring. I probably only soaked up about 20 gallons of water. The rest must have drained underneath the concrete to someplace. It's a condo unit and I'm on the bottom floor so I'm not really sure how the drainage system works.

I have had a tank leak and that sucks.

What brand of tank was it?
I am not saying your stand couldnt of been the fualt buy I have also seen 125 gallon tanks set on cement blocks just on the ends.

I'm glad you didn't suffer a ton of water damage, at least that's a positive.
Don't beat yourself up about the stand, sometimes, these things happen without explanation.

Thanks, all. I'll be looking to get something smaller this time...maybe a 92 corner or half circle...just a bit more condo-sized appropriate.

I'm glad this disaster didn't knock you out of the hobby.

did you have foam under the tank? I hear it can slightly help to compensate for slight irregularities in stands.

Do a search here before doing that. I believe you'll find just as many people saying that foam caused a failure as people that advocate it.

Wow, that's a generous offer!

To the op, sorry to hear about your loss.

Here are a few pics of the tank.
