Tank Cycled in 10 Days

As of last night the tank has pretty much run the cycle, the free ammonia is now at .03 PPM and the nitrites dropped from 25 PPM a couple days ago to nearly zero. It was a fairly easy cycle as the free ammonia never went above .45 PPM. I think I'll do another water change today. I'm now also starting to see a light film of green algae on the glass in spots.

Now if I can just get mantis shrimp #2 outa there, I can call Richard and get the 2nd half and all the critters!! I think he may have fortified himself because the opening to the hole where I first spotted him is now blocked off with small pieces of shells.

That's awesome Howard. I can tell mine is getting closer to being cycled now. Had some sponge die off that prolonged my cycle but this morning I was down between .25 and .50 after being near, and sometimes over, 1 for the majority of the week.

You're getting close, just keep doing those small water changes :-)

I think one thing that may have kept my ammonia from ever really spiking up was the daily dosing of the Seachem 'Stability' bacteria along with the dry bacteria from TBS.

Excellent, Howard!

The critters will be a blast. Mine really earn their keep.

The Mantis can be a problem. Sounds like he hunkered down and thinks he has moved in for the long haul.

I still have a gorilla crab I can't catch--bastard is smart--he knows I am trying to nab him.

I might add something this weekend anyway. Maybe a clown...

That may have helped. When I had the big spike in Ammonia I went and got some of that myself.
