"Best" method is a deli shrimp ( raw tiger shrimp usually - be sure to shell it) placed into a nylon. Drop it onto your sand bed, or tie onto light fixture/etc, and let it rot for about a day or so. I saw a nice ammonia spike the next day and removed it. Nylon helps keep the mess to a minimum and makes it real easy to remove.

My cycle just finished yesterday without issue, except some minor problems with patience, and this method made it fairly foolproof. :D

i'm cycling 50lbs of DR in a 20g rubbermaid tote right now. i had put in a huge jumbo shrimp in a bag and put a few holes in the bag. turned the heater on to about 85degrees and in 2 days my Ammonia was 10.
