i am setting up a new tank and i am trying to figure out the best flow design to use for this set up. first heres the tank sketch up

the green dots are for sump drain and returns and the red is for closed loops. the back wall will be the closed loop drains and returned through the bottom. the sump drains are in the overflow boxes and the return lines have been moved to the eurobraces to eliminate back syphon issues.

i was figuring the closed loop should barrel roll up the front glass into the overflows and sump return could give a clock wise turn . is this the best idea?

pump for the closed loop is a reeflo hammer head and the sump return is a dophin 4800 sp.

Well, first off, going by your designs, the skimmer cup will be under water ;) J/K of course...

Will this be a BB tank? If so, I would aim the jets sideways to help keep the bottom clean. What are you looking for in the lines of additional pumps in the tank?

Honestly though, I think some of the rock work will need to dictate how the flow will need to be handled.

i plan on adding about 1-2" sand in the bottom for cosmetic appeal. i do not want any pumps in the tank if possible but if necessary i will add a vortec down the road. the rock work will be thin. i plan on two big stacks and one little in the middle and the returns for the closed loop coming out of the rock work. so it doesnt affect the flow much.

im a novice at sketchup. lucky it turned out as a picture instead of intersecting lines of babble.

an iwaki pump in the place of one of the others i already have? or are you saying to add another pump on top of the two i have?
