So I set up a solana 34gl rimless with the all in one system skimmer, refugium, chemical chamber. The tank has cycled. Evrything looking great but on the return there are alot of MICROBUBLES what can it be? Anyone have experience with these tanks.
I have one and I also had micro bubbles in the return chamber and some getting into the tank.
Do you have the stock skimmer?
If so, I put a foam sponge that's is from an old fluval 300 canister filter in the slot on the side of the actual skimmer and that stopped the micro problem.
Yea Its the stock skimmer with an upgraded pump. Thanks for the info im going to try that now. I couldnt pass on the tank they posted it as a biocube 29 gl and when I saw it I knew exactly what it was and for 180......
I then put filter floss over all my sponges this prevents all the micro-bubbles getting back into the tank. I change it out every week or so in order to not build-up nitrates. Highly suggest it... Nice find...
Thanks for the help . After I put the sponge next to the skimmer I barely have micro bubbles. I'm Going to try the Filter Floss to see if it completely gets rid of it.
Not sure how old set-up is, but keep in mind that skimmers can produce excess microbubbles at the beginning as they are breaking in. Filter floss and or pads always help as well. Also make sure you have enough water in the back chambers so you are not cascading as much.
That's another thing I was thinking. ... The person I got it from never used the skimmer because he did it didn't work basically he didn't know how to use it. ... so yea it could be breaking in as well
Not necessarily true. Yes it self levels, but you control where it levels. Keeping more water in the rear chambers reduces the cascading and bubbles. I come from a biocube, but I assume most AIOs are similar.
